Campaign Story

Georgia-Sofia was an extrovert and energetic teenager, full of dreams for the future. It all changed however in July of 2017, when Georgia-Sofia, who was 13 years old at the time, suffered a severe car accident, which altered the course of her life forever. The young girl sustained severe craniocerebral injuries, which deprived her of her speech and motor skills. Georgia-Sofia had to remain hospitalized in the ICU for a long period of time, while she was afterwards transferred to a rehabilitation center, where she remained for 3 whole years. When she finally returned home, her doctors recommended that she would be subjected to a home-based physiotherapy and speech therapy program. A program however, which was unattainable for her family, since after all these years of caring for their daughter, they had found themselves in a dead end.

Her parents had reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS and thanks to your defining support, we managed to cover the cost of the young girl’s health-related expenses, for 2 and a half years! Thanks to the treatments she is being subjected to, the 20-year-old girl can now eat and breathe without the need of the gastrostomy and the tracheostomy, while she is now able to take a few steps with the help of her physiotherapist!

Today however, Georgia-Sofia’s family needs our help one more time, as the cost of the young woman’s health-related expenses, combined with the recent leukemia diagnosis of her mother, have brought the family to a dead end.

Georgia-Sofia has been facing an uphill struggle for the past 7 years, while her parents are doing everything in their power, in order to provide her with the best medical care possible. This family is trying to stay afloat and they need our support. Together, we can facilitate their struggle!
